Freddie King (Vocal)


Freddie's father was born in the Republic of Guinea
and his mother was born in the Ukraine.
He himself was born in London's East End
and lived in Guinea as a boy.

Freddie has appeared in many jazz festivals across the UK
as a band leader or guest of a band.
He has played with many established jazz musicians,
for example-Frank Perowsky (Lisa Minnelli),
Bobby Wishart Band, Geoff Castle (Nucleus),
Brian Kellock (Handful of Keys),
Stan Robinson (Ronnie Scott group),
Demagogue Reacts (Belgian jazz group) …

Having studied in New York with Mark Soskin (Sonny Rollins pianist),
he has developed a particular personal vocal style
consisting of ballads, swing, latin and bebop.
His influences include such legendary names as
Johnny Hartman, Nat King Cole, Mark Murphy,
Eddie Jefferson, Charlie Parker and Miles Davis … to name but a few.
Freddie King has performed throughout the world in clubs, bars,
concert halls, festivals building up his reputation
as a top international singer.
